Last week saw the separation of Anne Robinson from John, her husband of 27 years. Due they said to 'irreconcilable differences'.
What this means is that they had grown so far apart that neither was prepared to compromise enough to keep the relationship going and they have decided to be just friends.
This doesn't happen overnight. It takes time for the balance in the 'relationship bank' to fall to zero. Constant little withdrawals without constant little deposits leads to a bankrupt relationship.
Living and working apart inevitably puts strain on a relationship.
What little daily deposits are you putting in yours? A kind word, a gentle touch, a shared smile, an unexpected compliment. All these are the stuff of strong, happy relationships.
